2 Meter Slim Jim Antenna Using 300 Ohm Twinlead


2 Meter Slim Jim Antenna Using 300 Ohm Twinlead

This design is based on the standard
Slim Jim antenna


This 2 Meter 300 Ohm Slim Jim antenna is constructed from regular 300 ohm twinlead.
You simply take a piece of 300 ohm twinlead about one inch longer than in the picture above, trim both of the ends down to bare wires, twist and solder
both ends. Tape to prevent moisture from seeping inside twinlead if used outdoors.
Your final length for the total antenna length will be about 58 inches.

Then on one side of the twinlead, measure up about 19 inches from the bottom of the antenna.
Cut out a complete section of the wire (ONE SIDE ONLY) of about 1 inch at the 19 inch point.
This creates an air gap and also technically creates some capacitance at this point.
Assembly of the antenna is complete except for attachment of coax and final SWR adjustment. Once you get the hang of it, you can make this antenna extremly fast. Makes a great emergency antenna for attic installation out of the weather!

SRW ADJUSTMENT and FINAL INSTALLATION
Now create some sort of temporary support (non-conductive) with the antenna hanging straight down OR lay it out on the ground, table, work bench, etc so you can attach the coax (50 ohm small type like RG58) to the feed points, center conductor to longest side, shield to the other. There is a very good reason to use small coax at the antenna.....your fingers will let you know why if you have large hands! Those tiny wires inside the twinlead are very difficult to work with using large coax like RG8.

The usual connection points will be around 4 inches Plus or Minus from the bottom of the antenna, however due to various construction methods, brand and type of 300 ohm twinlead used, these points may change, so have bare wire on both sides of the 4 inch point as far as needed to allow for adjusting SWR.

Attach the coax in a temporary fashion, center conductor of coax to longest side, shield to the other, by twisting each end tightly onto the bare conductors of the 300 ohm twinlead. One piece of electrical tape wrapped on one side will keep them from shorting.

Now get the antenna up and away from surrounding metal objects at least 20 or more inches and as high as possible for SWR adjustment. Your permanent location is the best.
Note: Coax should hang straight down from bottom of antenna during tuning and final assembly.


USE LOWEST AMOUNT OF POWER POSSIBLE WHEN ADJUSTING SWR!
Move both coax connection points equally up or down for best (lowest) SWR.
After lowest SWR is obtained, (you may not be able to achieve a 1:1 so just trim for lowest SWR), solder coax to antenna, with
center conductor to longest side and shield to the other, seal end of coax from weather and let it hang down from bottom of antenna.
This Slim Jim antenna can be used inside by supporting from string, nylon cord, etc from a high point in the room or used outside by hanging or supported from a suitable length of PVC pipe, (see standard
Slim Jim design) wood or other NON-CONDUCTIVE MATERIAL.

Again, keep it away from conductive objects a minimum of 20 inches from the bottom, sides and top. If long runs of coax are needed to connect to your rig, then it is suggested that a short length of RG58 type coax be used AT THE ANTENNA connections, then add a barrel type connector and convert the coax to lower loss type such as Rg 8 going to your rig.
Trying to use the large type coax at the antenna is very difficult due to sizes of wire and limited space between conductors of twinlead.

This is not a high power antenna. Stock 2 meter radio output is recommended.

aku baru jer tukar tiub baru jenis maxxis. cikadak tungkit tul kedai tu, dia cas aku rm15. selalu nyer murah jer. XYL pandang jer.... sbb mahal dari tiub motor. aku beli sekali ngan adaptor tiub basikal aku. yg lama dah hilang sbb banyak sangat pindah umah dalam masa 6 tahun aku kerja kat saltmine aku di bukit tinggi, klang.

XYL pun dah mula mintak belikan basikal gak. tuntut janji katanya.. janji mesti dikota biar lambat tak mengapa janji dapat....hehheeee letih aku sebelum kayuh. nyesal ku masa aku bujang dulu aku kata nanti akan belikan satu kat dia. untuk kayuh bersama sama aku suatu hari nanti..
nah amabik kau.. dia dah tuntut daaa...

Antenna 2M MOXON



Here is some data on a 2M vertical polarized antenna I 'm going to built this week. I'm not sure about the gain but the front to back ratio is very good and
conforms to the model. But feed back from other ham that this kind of moxon is better taht 3 element yagi.

The antenna is made out of 1/2" PVC and #6 copper ground wire.




Antenna pattern - Blue trace is the design @ 146 Mhz and Red trace is at the
upper limit of 148 Mhz.

Radio Amatur atapun juga dikenali sebagai “Ham Radio” ialah hobi berkenaan membina, menguji-kaji dan berkomunikasi melalui radio.
Pengguna-pengguna Radio Amatur ini saling berhubung dengan rakan-rakan mereka seluruh dunia melalui beberapa set-set frekuensi radio yang telah ditetapkan.


Bilakah Radio Amatur bermula?

Sejarah Radio Amatur ini telah bermula semenjak perhubungan radio digunakan. Pada tahun 1912, Kongress Amerika Syarikat telah meluluskan undang-undang pertama bagi mengawal selia pemancaran radio di Amerika Syarikat. Bermula 1914, pengguna Radio Amatur telah mula berkomunikasi dan mengadakan satu system penghantaran mesej di antara mereka. Di Malaysia, radio amatur merupakan titik bermulanya perkhidmatan radio komersil.


Apakah yang boleh saya lakukan dengan Radio Amatur?

Tidak seperti teknologi perhubungan lain, Radio Amatur membolehkan anda berhubung dari mana-mana tempat, pada setiap masa! Pada waktu-waktu bencana, Radio Amatur amat berguna, terutamanya kepada agensi-agensi penyelamat. Pada ketika lain, anda juga kadang kala boleh bercakap dengan para angkasawan atau membalikkan isyarat dari bulan! Anda juga boleh menghantar fail ataupun gambar secara digital. Adakah hobi lain yang menyediakan sebegitu ciri sepertinya?

Saya sentiasa sibuk. Adakah saya masih boleh menikmati hobi ini?

Sudah tentu! Hobi ini tidak terikat kepada sesuatu masa, tempat dan pendapatan seseorang. Memandangkan ianya mudah dikendalikan, ramai yang sentiasa sibuk mendapati ianya seronok digunakan dan mengurangkan tekanan selepas seharian bekerja. Anda dan juga keluarga anda juga boleh menikmati dan mempelajari hobi ini.


Apakah perbelanjaan yang diperlukan bagi hobi ini?


Sebuah radio bersaiz telapak tangan yang baru mungkin sama harganya dengan satu TV 19 inci yang berkos rendah. Radio yang lebih besar adalah sama kosnya dengan satu komputer.

Selain dari itu, bahan-bahan pembelajaran berkenaan Radio Amatur adalah berpatutan dan yuran peperiksaan bagi mendapatkan Sijil Perakuan juga adalah rendah.

Secara alternatif, sekiranya anda cenderung untuk menguji-kaji, seperti kebanyakaan pengguna Radio Amatur atau “Ham Radio”, anda boleh membuat unit “Ham Radio” anda sendiri.


Siapa yang boleh membantu saya?
Kelab-kelab Radio Amatur terdapat di seluruh Malaysia dan bersedia untuk membantu anda. Ada di antara kelab-kelab tersebut mempunyai halaman web yang mengandungi maklumat mengenai hobi tersebut.

Bagaimana saya boleh menjadi seorang operator Radio Amatur?

Hanya mereka yang telah diperakukan boleh mengendalikan sesuatu alat Radio Amatur. Bagi mendapatkan Sijil Perakuan, anda haruslah warganegara Malaysia berusia 14 tahun ke atas dan lulus ujian-ujian berikut:

* Ujian Teori Radio dan Kefahaman Peraturan Radio bagi Sijil Perakuan Kelas B; atau

* Ujian Kod Morse (CW) dan ujian-ujian teori dan radio di atas bagi Sijil Perakuan Kelas A.


Siapakah yang mengeluarkan Sijil Perakuan itu?

Sijil Perakuan tersebut dikeluarkan oleh Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia kepada mereka-mereka yang telah lulus ujian yang diadakan.


Adakah saya perlu membayar yuran?

Ya, Sijil Perakuan tersebut haruslah diperbaharui setiap tahun. Yuran tahunan bagi Sijil Perakuan Kelas A adalah sebanyak RM36 dan bagi Sijil Perakuan Kelas B, yurannya adalah RM24 setahun.


Apakah yang boleh saya pelajari sebagai permulaan?

Anda boleh memulakan pelajaran anda dengan mempelajari fonetiks abjad yang digunakan oleh pengguna-pengguna Radio Amatur di seluruh dunia!

memberi nasihat, bantuan dan pertimbangan secara ramah
tamah.

5. Amatur Radio adalah Berjiwa Seimbang.
Radio merupakan hobinya, ia tidak akan membenarkan
hobinya mempengaruhi kewajipan nya terhadap rumah
tangga, pekerjaan, persekolahan atau masyarakat sekitar
nya.
